The Medicaid community has made substantial progress in establishing the MITA (Medicaid Information Technology Architecture) as a means for increasing the affordability and agility of evolving MMIS systems. The Technical Architecture Committee (TAC) has made substantial progress this year in the implementation of Gateway 5010 - defining and implementing industry standards. The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) will provide a finite source of funds to Medicaid agencies to achieve the vision of interoperable healthcare information exchange. MITA also enables the long term, sustainable, infrastructure that implements the vision set forth in ARRA.

The PSTG has been actively monitoring and and discussing how MITA can be used to achieve the goals of ARRA by making wise investments in a sustainable framework that will endure after ARRA funds are exhausted. We continue to focus on how to optimize the individual TAC committees to achieve ARRA goals by capitalizing on MITA.
